Cashier Olympics

So, we do this silly thing at HD to encourage unity and show "cashier appreciation." It is called cashier olympics. It's comprised of ringing up merchandise and being graded on accuracy and speed and other really stupid things. Winners of each store go on and compete other really great cashiers. It's lame. Anyway, our FES was super stoked. She made our theme Hollywood. She made us all dress up. I have pictures. They're hilarious. It was funny and shameful all at the same time. Here you go:
We had a Hollywood sign, red carpet, and stars with our names on them.

Sara, the genie, and me in the parking lot

Our fire drill, just like in 3rd grade
The FES and her 4 HC's
That means the Front End Supervisor and her 4 Head Cashiers!!
Hanging out and having a good time
Deserea in the parking lot

Desi and Tony, our Ops Manager
Desi and Jess (with Genny in the background)

Desi putting on her black gloves

And.............it's DESI, again. I can't help it...hahaha
Yes, it's scary....very scary

The action...not really, but do you like my shoes?
Gettin ready to go inside for Cashier Olympics

And there you have it. Hollywood Depot
So, I hope you got a little taste of my new life at the Vegas Depot. It sure is crazy!!!

Weekend with the Stokers

We had some visitors last weekend. In fact, we had 5 visitors. We had two canines and three homosapiens. That made us even-steven. Four and four (well, for most of the time-Boy took off to San Diego for a physical by a Naval Officer).
Anyway, it was a very exciting weekend to say the least. We compiled 9.5 lbs of poop, I did 30 loads of laundry, and we had four very tired pooches.
Day 1 I was sick so I called in. Day 1 also included a leisure hike up Red Rock. I wanted to show off our beautiful "backyard." This turned out to be a DISASTER!! Tivo and I are pro, so naturally we did very well. I forgot to take into account a 9 year old girl, 3 primpy dogs (2 Maltese and a chihuahua), and a woman with a bad back and bad knee, who had to carried the dogs and water for her daughter. After 23 stickers in random paws, 45min of whining, and blood pouring from a leg, it was time to leave the desolate wasteland we were "hiking," turn around and head back to the car. Finally, we reached the end, or car. We all got some water and everybody was satisfied.
After grabbing some food, we went over to the pool (the dogs were all tucked away in their kennels). The water was too cold to swim in (or so Alecia said), so naturally, I jumped in with Alyiah in my clothes, for I couldn't find my swimsuit that was hanging on the back of the door in my bathroom. I got my looking skills from Chris!! hehehehe

Alrighty, later that night the three of us went to the strip. Well, before we hit up the strip we went out to DI and found me a wicked awesome costume that I wore to Cashier Olympics last Sunday. I will post pictures soon. Anyway, we walked around the strip and then saw three water shows at the Belagio. It was awesome. We had a blast. That night, Alecia and I stayed up giggling about nothing until the wee hours.
Day 2 I woke up after 3 hours of sleep and went to work at 5:45am. Alecia has a thing for Popeye's chicken, so we went and ate there, obviously. We spent a little more time at the pool. Chris finally got home from SD and we hit up downtown (the "REAL" strip, according to Alyiah!). We watched 3 amazing shows on the...well, let's has Vegas.com explain it "In Short,Tourists and families stroll under a 90-foot-high, four-block-long electronic canopy that flashes colorful graphics and animations. Dubbed Viva Vision, the world's largest LED screen is paired with a 550,000-watt sound system to show specially produced shows played every night at dusk." We all loved it. We also went shopping in all of the souvenir shops. Oh, and this blog would not be complete if I failed to mention the doughnut excursions. It really became a HUGE deal, when it simply started out as a comment, "Oh, I love Dunkin Doughnuts." After searching for one the first night and not finding it, I have to convince Alecia that I wasn't driving her out to the middle of nowhere to kill her. The second night, we discovered there was one on Freemont Street in a casino. They had crappy one's left, so we tried a new spot. We went to the one by our house (we had looked it up) only to find that they were closed...CLOSED!!! Ok, so we took a little adventure down to Rainbow and found the stinkin place. The two employees were smoking outside and ran in to take our order. It was comical. We ended up getting a dozen. Yum.
Day 3 we went to church. Wait, wait, wait, Boy woke up early and made all of us a smashing breakfast. We had pancakes and hash browns and eggs. It was delicious. It was very thoughtful of him. Thank you Boy!!!! Ok, so we went to church. When we came home, Alecia helped me put primer on my chairs so I can start painting them.
The traveling circus left Sunday afternoon and we were all very sad to watch them go. Alecia found cheap gas. That set her drive off to an amazing start

Vegas Fun

So, last Saturday I got off work a little early. We decided to take a hike over at Red Rock. It was pretty awesome. We hiked up an old river bed into the canyon. There were millions of rocks and boulders to scale. It was awesome. Tivo was having the time of his life. On one boulder, Tivo actually started whining and didn't want to come down where we were. Chris went back and carried him down. That was, however the only time he chickened out. We were out hiking for 4 hours, or so. It was beautiful. My thighs hurt. On the way home we picked up some Einstein Bagels.
Later that night, Boy and I went down to the strip and saw Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. It was really cool. It was $15, but pretty sweet. We saw a lot of cool fish and sharks. If you haven't seen it, I would suggest it for the next time you're in Vegas. We also walked through the Luxor because I had never been inside. Nothing too spectacular. We also got a doughnut in Excalibur and looked through Urban Outfitter and a golf store. We finally made it down to the strip.
Anyway, pretty short, but that's about it.

o, catch up we will try

So, since the last post, I have visited Moab, UT and Washington D.C. Wow. It's been a blast.
Tivo and I took another long trip last weekend. We hopped in the car and headed north east. Unfortunately, a cop caught me pushing the limit of speed (hehe, by quite a bit) and I got a ticket. Fortunately, I'm still 5 behind Chris.
I must tell you, dogs are the greatest traveling companions ever. Tivo snuggled up in my lap during the drive. He didn't whine (too much)! He didn't say anything rude or cruel. He didn't lie or taunt. He simply sat with me as I rocked out to music. I love him....
Anyway, Moab is a very pretty place. I have never been there before. Tivo had free reign of a few acres. He loved the opportunity to roam around; however, he had a tough time leaving my side at first. I got to do a little bit of 4-wheeling in the beauty of the mountains as well as hit golf balls at the Moab range. It was a fun little escape.
Tivo sits like a human sometimes Notice the lights? That's the cop....

Onto DC. I flew into Dulles International and a dear friend from my childhood picked me up-Mikale. It was her brilliant idea to attend the Temple, so that we did. She had only gone through a few days before. It is so beautiful. The next day, I took the Metro into DC to meet Brie. Brie and I had many fun filled days full of museums and artifacts and overloading information. We stayed with her cousin in Maryland (I think). The whole area confuses me. Virginia, MD, DC....they all seem the same, but apparently they're so very different.
I will put up some pictures, but if you have any questions, just post em and I'll reply. I know I have left out MUCH detail....I'm exhausted....
