So it goes

To answer a few questions: Erika Hicks, Zack's wife, passed away. Their baby is two months old. She's a doll. Very beautiful. Erika had cancer, though it was pneumonia that essentially took her life. Zack is doing as well as can be expected. He has his on days and his off days. Chris got to spend a lot of time with him the past few days. It was good for the both of them. Next week McKenzie and Zack are taking a fishing trip in CA for a few days. I venture to guess that the next few weeks will be tough as Zack fully grasps the fact that Erika is really gone. We're going to hang out with him a bit when we come back for David's surgery in mid April.
And, in case you didn't catch on, the Spillers made it home safely last night. We got in around 1:30am. Tivo ran inside and jumped right on the bed. I think it's safe to say that he missed our bed more than we did...and that's saying something!!
Yesterday, Boy and I met my dad at his work for Earth Day. We had some good grub and spent time with Pops. We bought some wheat grass...hehehe. I'm excited to take a few wheat grass shots, though they taste like poop and I got a strike (stupid). It's the whole super-food idea that gets me, I guess.
Another random news: Danica and Ben are getting married June 7, 2 days before the bike ride starts. Her house is so very cute. Anna, we'll have to schedule the bbq in. The 17 of July you said? We're coming back in a few weeks...I need my Anna fix, so let's work things out!! Um, I'm quitting my second job Monday. So it goes.
Ok, I really gotta get ready for work so I can actually quit my other job!!!! Thanks for reading the goings-on (is that right? haha, I don't even know...but don't worry mom, I know you'll correct me if it isn't!!) in our lives.
I'm out

life line

This pic was taken on David's front porch!!

So, it's never good to have to come home for a funeral; however, this trip has been amazing. Tuesday night I got to hold dear Addy for a few hours. She's nothing short of a miracle. She's beautiful and a wonderful legacy her mother left behind. The funeral service today was so very hopeful, in true Christ-like fashion.
Also, today I had a little miracle of my own. After the funeral was over, I mingled for a while with the whole city of Reno (cause we were all there), both old and new residents. Now, I say old residents because when I glanced out of the corner of my eye, pinpointing the next person I would "catch up with," there stood Ena. ENA? No freaking way. I actually stared for a few moments just in case I was seeing visions, again...hehe. Sure enough, it was Ena. That little encounter was all I needed. Tender mercies, really...I was overjoyed to learn she will be in Utah for the week AND she has a cell phone and actually knows how to text. How splendid is THAT? Good times.
Some random news: Tori is moving to CO. I'm excited for her. I hope it brings only positive things in her future. I had dinner with Traci tonight. I love that girl. It's always so nice to sit down, relax, and just chat for awhile. We're headed back to Utah tomorrow. Tivo wants to come inside again (as you know, Grandma won't let him at her house). We will be back in Reno the 19th of April-a week after David's surgery. Finally, THE Bike Ride starts June 9th this year. Chris is participating this year carrying the names of Erika Hicks and his father. I will keep you posted with updates. It's time to get FIRED UP!!!
Thanks to all and to all a good night...

The truth will set you free

Yes, it is true. Trucks must use left lane in tunnel. I can't ever just give in. I had to stick to my guns and hope/pray that another sign wouldn't pop up; however, much to my dismay, the stars were with Chris and there it was: the sign. It's cool though. Since i'm right most of the time (hehe) Chris can hold on to this one and not feel as discouraged. Ha!
Anyway. We were home last weekend. It was pretty sweet. Tivo had numerous play dates and he was being trained by Gma Warren to be an outside dog. He was starting to get the hang of it by the end of the weekend. We had a bar-b-que Friday night at Jeff's house, a baptism and party-time on Saturday, and breakfast with the Spillers on Sunday. It was an awesome weekend. I will post some pictures soon, but now I'm going to look up places to live in Vegas!

Hover crafts use right lane

Let me take this rare opportunity, where I actually have free time to blog, to tell you about a time I was right.
The scene is this: Andree and I are driving in our pimpmobile (aka the lincoln) to Reno, Nevada on a beautiful sunny afternoon. We are rocking out to sweeny todd.....well if you can call it rocking out the third time through the SAME cd in four hours....the dog is in the backseat enjoying the ride, and we don't have a care in the world. We both have three days off from work and we couldn't be more happy to be with each other (well, see each other for that matter. We did go almost three days without seeing each other because of my stupid second job....but I got rid of that).
As we approach a tunnel a few miles off, a semi truck suddenly veers into the left lane we occupy cutting us off. I change lanes to go around him and Andree points out how odd the situation is. I casually remark, "I think the trucks have to get into the left lane for the tunnel. I remember a sign saying that."
At this point Andree says I am crazy and that I made it up. After all, why would trucks have to be in the left lane anyway? Ridiculous really. I laugh, but stick to my guns.
A moment passes and a sign approaches. Andree points and remarks, "Look at that sign! It says trucks use left lane and hover crafts use right lane." I'll admit this was pretty funny. We both had a good laugh about it and I even made sure to tell her that she made a funny joke.
Spirits were high as we approached the tunnel. Andree had made a great joke and I was sure I probably made the thing up in my head. I do that from time to time. She even teased me a bit more. However, as we got closer a few more trucks were in the left lane. This gave me a ray of hope. Could I have actually been perceptive enough to pick up on this particle of information before my dear wife did?
Then, the heavens parted, and a sign appeared. "Trucks use left lane."
We both instantly started to laugh and the sense of satisfaction was almost overwhelming. She was wrong and there it was in front of us. For all the teasing she gave me I got it right. I actually got it right.
I spent the next ten minutes trying to pay attention to Andree as I wrote this blog in my head.
I am so proud of myself.
